Maptiler indicates that USGS Earth Explorer catalog gives us free date-wise data. For a small area which fits in a single tile, 500+ images show up, dating from 2015, for Sentinel2 data. Can be used for lots of interesting things :)
Apparently Google Earth has a historical animation feature. This is of course, free for personal use, but not free in terms of licensing. Here's a video about exporting video from Google Earth. But that's only on the downloaded version. The web version does not have the video export etc. What is required is the "Google Earth Pro" desktop version. Which is still free for personal use.
(On Linux, the latest version seems to have some issues, as mentioned here. I too had the blank screen issue. Installing the 7.1 version deb made it work.)
My location has around 17 historical images, from 2004. Most from 2015 onwards.
